The Stella Aldwinckle Series: C P Taylor’s ‘Good’ – Film & Discussion
7:30pm-10:30pm, Thursday 4th May 2023
Stella Aldwinckle Series
On Thursday 4th May at 7.30pm the Stella Aldwinckle Series will be hosting a discussion event following a showing of the National Theatre’s play ‘Good’ starring David Tennant. The film depicts the moral decline of an academic living through the 1930s in Nazi Germany and prompts us to ask questions about the reality of goodness, the goods we live for and the relationship between thought and action.
After watching the film together we will discuss the key themes and the questions the film prompts for us today, particularly the role academics and intellectuals might play in discerning common goods.
See the film trailer here.
This discussion is open to postgrads, postdocs and ECRs of all disciplines. Sign up here for further details on booking your subsidised cinema ticket & free drink during the post-show discussion.
